Telekom Srbija equips 60 information science classrooms in elementary schools in Serbia Computer classroom donated to Elementary School Sava Munćan

Thanks to the project “We Create Knowledge” that Telekom Srbija has carried out for a third year in a row in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological development, Elementary School Sava Munćan from Kruščica has received new computers, smart boards and the necessary equipment for the information science classroom. The head of the PR Department of Telekom Srbija, Marija Bošković, ceremoniously granted a valuable donation to the headmaster and pupils of this small but multiple award-winning school, which is attended by a large number of children of Czech nationality.

Marija Bošković said that every year Telekom Srbija equips 20 information science classrooms in 20 elementary schools throughout Serbia, so that over the last three years, 60 elementary schools had received modern computer equipment. She added that the project “We Create Knowledge” was implemented within the program “We Support the Initiators”, by which the company encourages individuals and institutions to initiate possible changes in their environment.

“The project of equipping information science classrooms in elementary schools was launched on the occasion of 20 years of establishment of our company with an aim to allow pupils and teachers modern working conditions and contribute to increasing the digital literacy of students to a yet higher level. The schools proposed by the Ministry of Education are selected by citizens by an online vote, so that parents, teachers, former pupils and neighbours can help small schools receive an information science classroom. We are glad that we have managed to implement a project that encourages the community to unite in attaining a common aim, which allows elementary school pupils an opportunity to acquire knowledge in an easier and better way with the help of teachers who can explain to them the advantages and dangers of digital technologies”, said Marija Bošković, the head of the PR Department of Telekom Srbija.

On behalf of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, the ceremony was attended by head of the Zrenjanin School Administration, Snežana Oluški Vlačić, who emphasized the importance of the “We Create Knowledge” project and the efforts of socially responsible companies such as Telekom Srbija in the creation of better conditions for the development and education of the young.

Elementary School Sava Munćan is one of the 20 schools that have this year been chosen by citizens through an Internet vote on the Facebook page mtsTvojsvet. The headmaster thanked the Telekom Srbija company for the donation and the Zrenjanin School Administration for making it possible for this educational institution to participate in the project.

“This award has come at the right moment because the equipment in our information science classroom is obsolete and inadequate. This donation means a lot to the information science teacher and our pupils because they will be able to acquire knowledge more easily”, said Nikola Mirčov, the headmaster of Elementary School Sava Munćan.

Apart from Elementary School Sava Munćan, funds for the equipment of information science classrooms have this year been also granted to elementary schools “Đura Jakšić” in Čurug, “Doža Đerđ” in Gunaroš, “Branko Ćopić” in Lukićevo, “Milan Munjas” in Ub, “Jovan Popović” in Susek, “Majur” in Majur, “St Sava” in Popučke, “Petar Vragolić” in Ljubovija, “14 October” in Barič, “9 May” in Sastavci, “St Sava” in Toponica, “Karađorđe” in Rača, “Branko Radičević” in Sedlare, “Sreten Lazarević” in Prilike, “Vuk Karadžić” in Donji Milanovac, “Dositej Obradović” in Vražogrnac, “Branko Radičević” in Trgovište, “Stana Bačanin” in Leposavić and “Vuk Karadžić” in Žitni Potok.
