Telekom Srbija receives 2024 Sustainability Champion Award
Telekom Srbija is the recipient of the 2024 Sustainability Champion award for its socially responsible project entitled Children’s World is Larger than the Screen. This prize is presented to companies that have aligned their business operations and sustainable strategies with the Sustainable Development Goals and made their contribution to reaching the same. At the CSR&ESG forum organized by the Responsible Business Forum and Smart Collective, on behalf of the company, the award was received by Ljiljana Džikić, international information manager.
This is a second award for the project entitled Children’s World is Larger than the Screen, which testifies to its recognizability and the relevance of the global topic in the sphere of child development it deals with. This year, the project was named The Campaign with a Purpose as an example of communication with a clear purpose aimed at promoting the welfare of children, individuals and society as a whole.
The Children’s World is Larger than the Screen project draws attention to the possible consequences of early or excessive exposure of children to screens and points to the importance of the responsible use of digital devices at an early age. Through different activities within the campaign, parents, carers, experts and a broader public were provided with useful advice as to how to create an encouraging environment for a healthy psychological and physical development of children, and offered were guidelines for establishing a balance between digital and physical activities and recommendations for a proper use of the screen at an early age.
With its project Children’s World is Larger than the Screen, the Company is directly contributing to the achievement of Goal 4 – Quality Education, with special emphasis on sub-goal 4.2 pertaining to a contribution to early childhood education. The project particularly stresses a balanced use of digital devices as an important factor for a proper development and the psychological and social welfare of children in their formative years.
The Telekom Srbija company also received the Sustainability Champion award for 2022 for its environmental project No Species Dies Alone which was rewarded as contribution to the achievement of Goal 15 – Preservation of life on the Earth, that is, for an exceptional contribution to sub-goal 15.5. – the protection of biodiversity and natural habitats.
