For fifth consecutive time, Telekom Srbija presents award to Faculty of Visual Arts student

For a fifth consecutive time, Telekom Srbija has presented an award for the best student work from the New Media Department of the Faculty of Visual Arts. The rewarded work created by student Milica Bilanović named Industrial Plants is characterized by a mature aesthetic expression and an exceptional visual approach, assed the jury comprising Boris Burić, an intermedia artist, Dušan Đorđević Mileusnić, a translator and intermedia artist, and Dejan Vasić, an art critic and curator.

The jury reasoned its decision by saying that the work including a video and installation was characterized by a visual approach where invasive plants in the area of abandoned industrial facilities intimate neglect and exposure to the ravages of time of the factories devoid of their original function.

“The idea came from a pun since industrial plants, an English word for factories, literally mean plants which, at the same time, are the only surviving form of life in these abandoned areas. With this intervention, I wished to draw the attention to the lack of care in that segment. The award came at the right time, as an encouragement for me to continue to pursue art” said the author, Milica Bilanović.

Telekom Srbija thus continues to offer systemic support to individuals in the form of a special annual award for the best work and to the faculty itself by providing it with technical and multimedia equipment. In this manner, the company makes it possible for students to use state-of-the-art teaching aids and research into contemporary artistic expressions of intertwining artistic forms, technologies and communications.
