Telekom Srbija award for best student lockdown work

Belgrade, 23 June 2020 – An exhibition of works by the students of the New Media Department, created during the coronavirus lockdown, has opened at the Gallery of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade. This year too, Telekom Srbija presented a pecuniary award for the best student work, which went to a first-year student, Tamara Spasojević Tadija, as decided by the jury comprising Darka Radosavljević, director of the Remont independent art association, Slađana Petrović Varagić, art historian, and Dragan Protić Prota, an artist from the Škart group.

With the support of Telekom Srbija in the form of a special award for best work, which was presented for a fourth consecutive year, and earlier donations of technical and multimedia equipment to the Faculty, the students had an opportunity to explore contemporary artistic expressions which closely combine diverse art forms, technologies and telecommunications, using new media and new forms of communication.

According to the jury, the best work entitled Deathmatch stood out in terms of its multi-layered meaning and insightful juxtaposition of different realities – virtual, social and personal. The prize-winning piece “manages to avoid passive documentarism and open up a new public space through the artistic aspect”, the jury reasoned its decision.
