Winners of 5th Regional App Challenge Declared

The companies Telekom Srbija, m:tel BiH and m:tel Crna Gora, as members of Telekom Srbija Group, organized a fifth competition in a row in the creation of mobile applications called The Regional App Challenge. Due to the epidemiological situation, the winners of the national competitions once again this year presented their applications via video conference.

Five best teams of high school students from all three countries exchanged their ideas and showed their skills in the creation of functional applications, and an expert jury announced as the best regional applications the SmarterWater application created by a team from Boljai High School from Senta, the 6Sense application,created by a team from Electrical Engineering High School Vaso Aligrudić from Podgorica and the Dnevnik pčelarstva (Beekeeping Calendar) application , created by a team from Jovan Cvijić High School from Modriča. The main prize for the winning teams is valuable information science equipment, while the special award for innovativeness called “The Power of Innovation – Igor Osmokrović”, was granted to a team from Banja Luka High School for the SteamGate application.

In accordance with intense support for the integration of youth in the digital community, the managers of companies within Telekom Srbija Group congratulated the winning teams and all the participants who took part in the project via video message.

“Telekom Srbija Group is committed to technological innovations and we are happy that in the generations of young people taking part in the competition, we every time see new hopes and great talents, ready for the future that awaits us, where it is exactly innovative thinking that will contribute to an additional development of society and our region”, said Vladimir Lučić, the CEO of Telekom Srbija adding that within the projects in the sphere of social responsibility, Telekom Srbija Group made it possible for young people to develop their knowledge, further enhance their skills, freely choose their career and more easily get the job they desire in the future.

The executive director of m:tel Crna Gora, Tatjana Mandić , said that it was very important to provide the right support to young people at the beginning of their professional development. “m:tel has already been recognized in Montenegro as a digital leader that pushes boundaries and supports the modernization of society, and working on this project we set an example for other young people to invest in their knowledge, believe in themselves and develop their potentials”, said Tatjana Mandić.

Jelena Trivan, the director general of m:tel BiH, thanked all the competitors as future visionaries who have the chance to become great names in the world IT or telecommunications industry and expressed satisfaction that Telekom Srbija Group was a part of this creative story: “I am glad that Telekom, as a group, works with young people, that it offers them a chance to show their vision and their knowledge of IT technologies, and that the creators of applications with their products, which they created with our support, will be able to compete on a big and world market”, said Jelena Trivan.

On behalf of the winning team from Serbia, Boris Tevdenić expressed his satisfaction at the winning of the main prize and said that this victory was at the same time an encouragement for future endeavours. “We are very glad that we have won the first prize in the competition of quality and well-prepared applications and we are happy that we had the chance to see the works of teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. We only regret that we have not had the chance to meet and communicate with the other participants in person, which is why we can't wait to take part in a new competition“, said Boris Tevdenić.

The students from 90 schools in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro who took part in the fifth Regional App Challenge, showed their eagerness and determination to apply what they learned at school in practice, creating comprehensive solutions through the applications that facilitate everyday life.
