New mts app competition drives talented secondary school students

Telekom Srbija has launched the 9th round of the mts app competition in the creation of mobile applications intended for secondary school students attending specialized mathematics, informatics and computer science classes. To mark the beginning of the new cycle, a day-long presentation was organized for all interested students and teachers at the Sartit Centre in Belgrade, at which representatives of Telekom Srbija, Sartit and former winners of the mts app competition and mts startup acceleration familiarized the participants with the rules of the mts app competition and shared their experience with the students in the sphere of entrepreneurship.

As a project intended for young people and aimed at developing expertise and team and entrepreneurial spirit, mts app competition is one of the leading projects of the umbrella programme We Support the Initiators whereby Telekom Srbija strengthens institutions and individuals, drivers of positive changes in their environment. The mts app competition is supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and with the opening of new IT classes, the competition was expanded to cover 47 high schools in Serbia this year.

By participating in the competition, students have an opportunity to expand their programming skills given that, under the competition rules, they are expected to create quality and functional applications in the Android™ or iOS operative system. What adds value to the applications is the commitment to the resolution of an issue within the community and contribution to the development of telecommunications services and promotion of the use of mobile handsets.

In order to take part in the mts app competition, students are required to organize their own teams, think of an application and apply for participation until 22 November this year. The applied teams should send their applications until 17 January 2020, which will be followed by the presentation of the applications before a jury and the award of prizes to the five best teams in Serbia. Given that the competition is also conducted in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro in accordance with the same rules in the organization of m:tel BiH and m:tel CG, the teams of Serbia will meet the winning teams of those countries within the Regional App Challenge event in February at which the main and special awards will be granted. The winners of the Regional App Challenge event will be attending some of the prestigious conferences in the sphere of contemporary IT trends and valuable prizes for innovativeness.
