New season of series Singer on Superstar Channel
Belgrade, 19 December 2023 – As of today, a new season of the series entitled The Singer, whose Season 1 took the viewers by storm, will be screened on Superstar Channel workdays at 9 p.m.
The plot of the twelve new episodes, created in the production of Telekom Srbija, Film Danas and Dandelion Production, unfolds in the past or more precisely, in 1878 when the main protagonists committed sins which would haunt them and their descendants through decades.
Aleksandra Martinović, head of the Multimedia Division of Telekom Srbija, said the series was yet another quality project of Telekom Srbija’s which saw it sequel thanks to the viewers‘ great support.
“Season 2 of the series The Singer points to the conclusion that Season 1 was a huge success, which encouraged us to go on with a new sequel. Such series as The Singer and a quality content riveting the viewers’ attention, represent a segment which contributes to the rising popularity Superstar Channel from season to season, making it the most popular cable channel in Serbia for a full five years. The end of this and the beginning of next year will be marked by some smashing hits available only on Superstar Channel, so do join us”, said Martinović.
The director and co-screenwriter, Igor Đorđević, said that the creation of the series had been an intense, consuming and amazing experience.
“It was consuming because I was both the director and actor who played one of the leading parts and I also co-wrote the script. But, actually, first and foremost, it was amazing because I was protected and surrounded by wonderful people who followed me and understood me so well. That is why now, when the series is to be screened for the viewers, I do not feel uneasy or anxious at all, but rather proud because I know that the series is of high quality in terms of acting, aesthetics and genre”, he said.
The series is a horror mystery which, following the fates of the main protagonists, takes us through different epochs in a bid to explain what we call "destiny" or "the legacy of our ancestors". The screenwriter, Nataša Drakulić, said that she would remember the filming of Season 2 by the great cold and her encounter with Milica Todorović.
“She is a fantastic young girl with a powerful voice. It was also an immense pleasure filming “epoch” scenes and, in the context of the co-called contemporary part of the storyline, seeing Vuk Kostić and Marko Janketić, my regular collaborators, in completely different roles. Vuk wore his mask to walk the streets carelessly and he definitely likes transformations“, she said.
One of the main roles in the new season was entrusted to the singer, Milica Todorović, who said that her role did not differ much from what she really was like in person.
“I play the part of the singer, Daša D, who is the best friend of Loki, played by Marko Janketić, who I worked with superbly. The two of us have matching energies and personally Marko is a wonderful guy and a great actor, which we all know so well, and I really was very glad to be able to work with him. Daša D is no different from Milica Todorović because Daša D is a powerful woman, a woman who may even use bad language sometimes but is a real pal, a woman who likes music and therefore the role suited me just fine. The series is very mystical with mingling past and present, flavoured with a tinge of horror, which I like very much”, she said.
The roles in the storyline where past and present collide and which revolves around the singer, Loki, who pays a high price for being curious and gullible, are played by Jelena Mur and Zlatan Vidović who said that two different time streams in Series 2, which rendered the plot even more exciting, was particularly interesting.
The cast for Season 2 also includes Tatjana Kecman, Miodrag Dragićević, Strahinja Blažić and Nataša Ninković.
During these cold winter days, the suspense will keep the audience engaged and focused on resolving a mysterious string of showbiz murders workdays on Superstar Channel.
