Telekom Srbija’s new project introduces us to the soccer world in the so far unseen manner

The beginning of the shooting of the feature series and film entitled Golden Boy, Telekom Srbija’s new project which is to present the soccer world “behind the scenes”, has been announced on the premises of OFK Beograd today. Apart from Telekom Srbija, the creation of this original work was supported by the Serbian Film Centre and Europe’s leading production company Beta Film of Germany.

Golden Boy is authored by screenwriters Aleksa Ršumović and Vuk Ršumović who, together with director Ognjen Janković, recount a story about a young soccer player of problematic temperament and great talent who becomes the target of different interests in his early youth. This demanding role was entrusted to Denis Murić, an actor who is rapidly gaining favour with the viewers, directors and producers. Besides the main protagonist, the cast also includes Igor Benčina, Tihomir Stanić, Petar Strugar, Alisa Radaković, Andrija Kuzmanović, Ljubomir Bulajić, Jovana Gavrilović, etc...

“Through a multitude of projects implemented in cooperation with the leading national and international production companies, Telekom Srbija is endeavouring to create the best and highest quality offer of film and tv content for the viewers in Serbia and the region at large. We shall continue to strengthen our leading position in the market and in cooperation with the best figures in this trade, to launch projects which move the borders of what has been seen so far”, said Vladimir Lučić, the coordinator for the Internet and multimedia of Telekom Srbija Group.

The press conference was also attended by Nebojša Taraba, a representative of Beta Film who had this to say on the occasion: “Beta Film is one of the leading international production and distribution companies seated in Germany and with representative offices across the world. We have recognized the quality and potential of the project and hence Golden Boy received something that is usually not received at the beginning of production. With a distribution to more than 160 countries where Beta has its channels, this will be the first Serbian series to obtain global distribution.”

The plot which is set outside the soccer pitch will draw special attention from the audiences as it offers a look into the world of professional sports from “the inside”. In this manner, the story opens up the door behind which we can see the reverse of soccer  – money, power, trading in influence, and crime. Essentially, the topic brings us an insight into modern slavery which is mirrored in the relations between clubs, managers, parents and soccer players. The filming of the series will last until 4 December and the crew will be shooting most of the scenes in the territory of Belgrade.

“I wish to thank Telekom Srbija for recognizing this project before others did, and also Nebojša and Beta Film representatives with whom we are already maintaining creative cooperation in the series. I have to stress that I am very happy with our cooperation with these two companies as we have received an opportunity to notch up international success”, said the producer of the series, Uglješa Jokić.

An interesting screenplay could not be translated into a successful project if it were not for many different supporting roles caught in the “soccer net” of the main protagonist’s life. Each one of them is driven by own motivation, but all of them are linked by the same dream of personal freedom.

“We are greatly honoured to be part of Telekom’s flock and to have been able to elicit great interest from Beta Film. This is something which we are all really very grateful for. I am proud of the fantastic cast and my colleague Vuk Ršumović who is mostly to be credited for this project coming true. It was difficult to deal with the story which was inspired by true events. This is a universal story because the same fight is waged on all meridians where soccer is played, and we lay emphasis on the young soccer player who is attempting to resist the cruel reality and win his freedom”, said director Ognjen Janković.

The Golden Boy series will be broadcast on Superstar TV available to users of MTS TV, cable operator Supernova and satellite television m:SAT tv, and users in the region via m:tel CG and B-H and across the world over GO4TV.
