Winners of first Regional App Challenge proclaimed

Telekom Srbija, m:tel Crna Gora and m:tel BiH have staged the regional final of the competition in the creation of mobile applications entitled Regional App Challenge. Secondary school students, the winners of the state competitions in Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina, took part in the regional final. Being equal in quality, two applications – Solve & Share of the LeVel team of Bora Stanković Grammar School of Niš, and the Move Fit application, created by the RB Dev team of 28 Juni school of Eastern Sarajevo, shared the first place as decided by the jury. The members of both teams will travel to Berlin to attend one of the leading IoT conferences.

At the prize-award ceremony, Telekom Srbija CEO Predrag Ćulibrk said he was satisfied with the quality of the applications presented. “On behalf of Telekom Srbija, I would like to say that we are extremely proud of these young people that have demonstrated enviable knowledge, exceptial team work, entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to perservere in the process of creating applications facilitating communication in the contemporary world. The success of the mts app competition in Serbia over the past years encouraged us to expand it even beyond the borders of this country”, Ćulibrk said.

Apart from the main prizes, also presented were two special awards for innovativennes “The Power of Innovation – Igor Osmokrović“, to the Valanders team of Vaso Aligrudić Secondary School of Electrotechnical Engineering of Podgorica for their application TeleTech and the student of the Secondary School of Mathematics of Belgrade, Luka Jovičić, for his applicaton Stories. The students received mobile handsets of great value.

M:tel Crna Gora CEO Vladimir Lučić commended the competition and these young people's endeavours: “I would like to thank our colleagues of Telekom Srbija for their initiative for including both us of Montenegro and our colleagues from B-H into this socially responsible project. It is our plan to make this event a regionally important IT project with significant developmental potential. Last year, we opened a digital factory, the first IT incubator in Montenegro, thus contributing to the ambiance for encouraging the innovative spirit, production of ideas and development of start-ups”, Lučić said.

Chief Marketing and Sales Officer of m:tel BiH Radmila Bojanić said she was satisfied with the region being connected by the knowledge and ideas of young people. “Offering my congratulations to the winning team, I would like to stress that all of them are winners now, for being the best at state competitions is not insignificant. A sincere thanks to all the students and their mentors who took part in the competition”, Radmila Bojanić said and added that was one of the numerous socially responsible projects within which m:tel of BiH invested in the development of knowledge and young talents.

For the secondary school students of Podgorica, Doboj, Eastern Sarajevo, Mostar, Prijedor, Senta, Belgrade, Šabac and Niš, the Regional App Challenge was the opportunity to share knowledge and experiences and to feel Belgrade in a special way, in the framework of the unique tour entitled Tesla in Belgrade. The students visited the Nikola Tesla Museum, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the locations in the city toured by Tesla during his only visit to Belgrade.
