Through the traditional project “We Create Knowledge”, the Telekom Srbija company, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, has once again this year offered its support to improving the digital literacy of elementary school students through investments in the equipping of computer science classrooms in schools. By voting at the official Facebook page mts Tvoj svet, citizens have the opportunity to decide which 20 elementary schools will get funds in the individual amount of one million dinars, which will allow the students to additionally develop their computer science knowledge and skills in modernly equipped classrooms.

The “We Create Knowledge” project is implemented by Telekom Srbija for the eighth time, and all those wanting to vote can do so via a link in the period from 23 September to 2 October, by choosing one out of 10 schools, in each of the four geographical regions. Based on the largest number of votes, five schools will be selected from every region so that elementary school students from all parts of Serbia can have equal access to modernly equipped computer science classrooms. In this way, the number of schools and the equipped classrooms within the “We Create Knowledge” project will rise to 160.

Digital literacy is one of the most significant skills in the contemporary information society, and it includes the skills of finding, creating and using information on the Internet in a useful and efficient manner. The development of these skills is necessary for young generations, which is why Telekom Srbija is trying to better equip the schools with computers and other information equipment, and point out the necessity of the responsible use of digital content and devices, as a socially responsible company.

Since children and youth spend a lot of their free time in the digital world of the Internet, it is necessary to educate them about the advantages and disadvantages of various platforms, which make their virtual environment safer. To this purpose, the Telekom Srbija company calls on the citizens to take part in selecting the schools which will participate in this year’s project and thus support those who will create the world for future generations.

By providing the students and their teachers with an adequate environment for learning and development, the Telekom Srbija company shows its strategic commitment directed at support for youth and education. Launched in 2017, the “We Create Knowledge” project is a part of the wider initiative called “We Support the Initiators”, which is aimed at empowering individuals and institutions to create positive changes in their environment.
