As we are awaiting the screening of the TV series entitled “The Airbridge” by the author Radoš Bajić on Superstar Channel, the film entitled “The Heroes of Halyard”, inspired by the greatest mission of rescuing ally pilots from the enemy lines in the history of world aviation, has received accolades in both the western and eastern hemispheres.

The film whose making has spanned more than five years, was screened in the US Congress on Capitol Hill. The fact that the film was screened in the US Congress testifies to our state’s being more active and present in Washington than ever before and that decision-makers in the US appreciate and commemorate the courage and sacrifice of the Serbian nation and the rescue of 500 US airmen during World War II.

Apart from the scriptwriter and director Radoš Bajić, on behalf of the film crew, Aleksandra Martinović, head of the Multimedia Division of Telekoma Srbija, the company which produced the film, Nedeljko Bajić, producer and actor, and American actors who played the lead roles in the film, Steven Moore and Nikola Kent also presented themselves to the audience.

Telekom Srbija is proud of the influence of “The Heroes of Halyard” had in Washington. By investing in its production, the Company once again moved the borders of Serbian filmmaking, setting new standards.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to have the film “Heroes of Halyard” screened in the Congress in Washington, particularly in view of the fact that this is a rare opportunity that the Congress organizes a screening of any film. Therefore, this is a huge indicator of the respect and collective memory of the courage and sacrifice the Serbian nation suffered during the rescue of 500 US airmen during World War II. As the producer, Telekom Srbija will continue to develop stories and projects that build culture and creativity bridges, connecting people across the world and the region at large, and that foster the memory of our past history”, said Aleksandra Martinović, the chief officer of the Multimedia Division.

“It is a great honour for us that the “Heroes of Halyard” is the first film to have been screened at the US Congress“, the author, Radoš Bajić, said and added he expected the film would somehow “reconcile” the dangerously fragmented world, the East and West, because it was invited to participate in the great International Film Festival in Moscow in April as well.
“We expect that the negotiations with important US distributors will soon be wound up and that the film will also be screened in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand”, Nedeljko Bajić, the producer, concluded.

There is no doubt that the screening of the film in the US Congress Serbian opened the door to domestic filmmaking globally and that Telekom Srbija is prepared for even greater feats.
