VALUABLE BOOKS FOR INITIATORS IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
Continuing the New Year gift-giving tradition, Telekom Srbija has for a fifth year in a row made book donations to school libraries throughout Serbia. The book-giving campaign was organized for the first time in 2015 for schools destroyed in the floods, and since then our company has granted more than 10,000 books to almost 50 elementary schools. At the end of this year, 2,500 editions by local and foreign authors, adjusted to pupils’ age, were granted to pupils from 10 elementary schools.
Book donations are organized as part of the umbrella program We Support the Initiators which is aimed at improving knowledge, investment in young talents and support to technological entrepreneurship. Apart from advancing the new digital technologies and content, an additional aim of this program is to encourage and foster the habit of reading among the youngest generations.
The We Support the Initiators programalso includes the individual programsWe Create Knowledge, mts App Competition and mts Start-Up Acceleration which show the company’s commitment to enhancing youth development through equipping the information science classrooms in elementary schools, allowing talented high school students to work on the development of mobile phone applications, and support to local start-ups in the development of technological innovations.
Since its establishment, Telekom Srbija has been adjusting its socially responsible activities with the needs of a wider community, thus contributing to the development of society and welfare of its members. Although young people, education, support for talents and technological entrepreneurship are at the core of our socially responsible activities, support for the community is also reflected in numerous humanitarian campaigns and projects in the sphere of health care, social welfare, ecology, science and culture since we believe that it is only through cooperation with the community that we can initiate positive changes in society that everyone can benefit from.
For the program We Support the Initiators and its commitment to the principles of socially responsible operations, our company has been granted one of the most important awards in the sphere of socially responsible operations granted by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Đorđe Vajfert.
This year Telekom Srbija has granted book donations to elementary schools Čibukovački Partizani from Kraljevo, 1 May from Vrtogoš, 1 May from Dubnica, Milan Vučićević-Zverac from Bratljevo, Dositej Obradović from Osaonica, Mladost from Vrnjci, Ljubiša Urošević from Ribare, Vuk Karadžić from Surdulica, Hristo Botev from Dimitrovgrad and Dositej Obradović in the village of Krće at Mt Golija.
