Telekom Srbija encourages young programmers

mts app competition gathers anew secondary school students

Belgrade, 1 October 2018 – Telekom Srbija has organized a new cycle of mts app competition intended for gifted students of secondary schools which include specialized classes for mathematics, informatics and computer science. Telekom Srbija stages the competition in creating applications for mobile handsets in Android™ and iOS for an eighth consecutive time, thus reaffirming its committment to investing into young talents and their professional development in the field of state-of-the-art technological and communication solutions. The upcoming mts app competition will rally the largest ever number of students given that as many as 37 schools from across Serbia will take part in it.
This competition, just like the previous one, will be of a regional character since it will also be staged in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro, in the organization of m:tel Banja Luka and m:tel Podgorica and in accordance with the same rules. Student teams will first be competing in the state finals with the peers from their own country. If their application ranks among top five applications, they will be entitled to participate in the Regional App Challenge event and compete with student teams of the neghbouring countries. The main prize of the Regional App Challenge will be a visit to the IDTechEx Show in Berlin in April next year; a special prize for innovativennes will also be awareded.
At both competitoin levels - the state and regional finals, valued will be the idea, solution complexity, implementation, innovativennes and particularly, socially beneficial purpose of applications, and their contribution to the development of the telecommunications services and the promotion of the use of mobile handsets and devices.

With this competition, Telekom Srbija endeavours to encourage creativity, teamwork and entrepreneurial spirit among gifted secondary school students, offering them an opportunity to improve and apply their knowledge in the process of creating applications.

As a project that encourages young people to implement a project of their own and develop entrepreneurial skills through the creation of applications, thus becoming initiators themselves, the mts app competition is one of the leading competitions in the framework of the We Support the Initiators campaign whereby Telekom Srbija promotes the drivers of positive changes in their environment.
