Winners of the anniversary online mts app competition rewarded

Telekom Srbija has successfully organized the 10th anniversary mts app competition for the development of applications for mobile devices, this year in online format, in accordance with the current epidemiological situation. The finals of the competition and the presentation of applications were held via video conference, and the jury unanimously pronounced the five best applications: Dreamscape of Augmentum team of Svetozar Marković Grammar School of Niš, e-help of F&A team of Mladenovac Grammar School, Livecart of MemoEasy team of Bora Stanković Grammar School, Niš, and NDP and GrickApp by the teams FikiCar and Narandža of the Computer Science High School in Belgrade.

"Due to the safety of the participants in the 10th mts app competition in the ongoing epidemiological situation, this year we staged a competition and presentation in online format, which posed a special challenge, both for us as organizers and for teams of students who presented their applications via video conference. We received quality and advanced applications that bring an additional socially responsible, educational message and useful application. This is yet another testimony that young people in Serbia have the knowledge and enthusiasm and that they only need a little support and encouragement to succeed,” said Miroslava Tešin Popović, CSR manager at Telekom Srbija.

Students of specialized departments for mathematics, informatics and computer science of the grammar schools that participated in the 10th mts app competition said that the competition had been an opportunity for them to advance the knowledge and skills they had acquired in school. This year, an additional challenge was to offer solutions through the application that contribute to dealing with such situations as the one caused by the coronavirus epidemic.

Commending the organization of this year's presentation of applications, Vuk Marković and Milan Radomirović of Augmentum team advised would-be participants in the mts app competition to participate, present their ideas and be part of a fantastic challenge, while Filip Oketić and Andjela Kanjo from the F&A team, who participate for the first time, said that they had learned a lot and made progress in programming through the competition, and that seeing the works of other participants in the presentation meant a lot to them.

Both Dunja Dimitrijević and Nada Trajković of Orange team are participating in the competition for the first time. They said the competition had been an interesting and challenging experience for them. Their friend from the Computer Science Grammar School, Filip Obradović of FikiCar team, is confident that he will remember the invaluable experience from the competition for many years.

Members of MemoEasy team, Natalija Simonović, Nikola Ilić and Borko Krstić, said that owing to the mts app competition they had had an opportunity to work on a big project and observe the things from the perspective of the user who the application was intended for, which would mean a lot to them in their further career.

The winning teams were traditionally awarded with valuable mobile handsets and received the opportunity to participate in the next level of the competition, the Regional App challenge, to test their talent and creativity against the most successful teams of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro, since the competition had been held under the same conditions in the organization of m:tel BiH and m:tel CG, too.

The mts app competition is part of Telekoma Srbija’s programme We Initiate the Initiators in which more than 2,500 pupils participated and 168 teams presented 175applications over the period of ten years. Thanks to its importance for the development of the IT knowledge and skills of young people, the mts app competition is supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and is included in the selection of the reputable European organization CSR Europe.
