Another 20 information science classrooms for elementary school students throughout Serbia

Belgrade, 6 July 2020 – By voting on the official Facebook page mts Tvoj Svet, the citizens have chosen another 20 schools, which Telekom Srbija will equip with modern information science classrooms, within the We Create Knowledge project.  The project is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, which once again this year proposed 40 schools to participate in the project. In order for the computer science classrooms to be evenly distributed throughout the country, the schools were divided into four geographical regions, while five schools with the largest number of votes from each of the regions will receive modern computer science classrooms from Telekom Srbija. So far the company has equipped 60 elementary schools with computer equipment as part of this campaign.

Providing computer equipment for schools is very important because elementary school students will thus have the necessary conditions to acquire knowledge from the sphere of information science. Over the past few months it has become obvious how important it is that the students are computer literate and that they can handle the online method of learning and communicating.

The government has recently been paying special attention to computer literacy in elementary and high school education, which was made clear by the recent decision of the relevant institutions to introduce a new subject called Digital World for first grade elementary students from September this year, so that they could become acquainted with digital technologies from the beginning of their schooling.

The We Create Knowledge project is designed to provide support to the youngest initiators – elementary school students, for the purpose of improving their computer literacy and expanding their knowledge. It is part of an umbrella program called We Support the Initiators, by which Telekom Srbija empowers institutions and individuals to initiate positive changes in their environment.

Telekom Srbija will grant modern computer equipment to the following elementary schools: “Jovan Cvijić” from Loznica, “Gavrilo Princip” from Zemun, “Filip Kljajić Fića” from the municipality of Čukarica, “Olga Petrov” from the municipality of Palilula and “Milisav Nikolić” from Boževac for the Belgrade region, for the region North: elementary schools “Vuk Karadžić” from Bajmok, “Nikola Tesla” from Bačka Topola, “Vuk Karadžić” from Lovćenac, “Dositej Obradović” from Opovo and “Isidora Sekulić” from Šajkaš, for the region West: elementary schools “Nikola Tesla” from Pribojska Banja, “Momir Pucarević” from Akmačić, “St. Sava” from Trstenik, “Kirilo Savić” from Ivanjica and “Julijana Ćatić” from Stragari, while the region South-East voted for the elementary schools “Jeremija Ilić Jegor” from Rgotina, Radoš Tošić from Istok,  “Petar Kočić” from Zubin Potok, “Braća Aksić” from Lipljan and “Drinka Pavlović” from Kuršumlija.
