For a sixth year in a row, Telekom Srbija has awarded a prize to the best student work at the New Media Department at the opening of the annual exhibition of the prized works by students of the Faculty of Fine Arts, staged in the Gallery of that faculty.

In line with the programme of long-term support the Company has lent to the activities of the faculty and gifted individuals, this year Telekom Srbija has presented an award to the best work at the New Media Department to the first-year student, Viktor Cvejić for his work titled All of Them. The decision on the winner of the pecuniary prize was reached by a three-member jury comprising art theoretician, Miško Šuvaković, curator Miroslav Karić and artist Branko Milisković.

The jury found that the relevant work excelled in terms of its visual and conceptual cogency, and critical attitude towards the current migrant crisis which has been a global issue over the last decade. “The work comprises 65 portraits of migrants interviewed, photographed and classified by the artist in his own system of research”, the decision reads.

“This award is invaluable for me, all the more so because I am still a first-year student. The fact that the award is presented for such an important topic also means a lot to me, as I wished to convey part of my insight in the issue of migrants, whom I met on a daily basis, to other people as well. I have noticed that people tend to form their opinions of others they don’t even know too quickly and with much bias and consequently, judge the entire population based on a small sample”, said the author, Viktor Cvejić.

Thanks to the support from Telekom Srbija in the form of a special award for best work and its earlier donations of technical and multimedia equipment to the faculty, the students may now use state-of-the art devices and explore modern artistic expressions in which increasingly more intertwined are diversified art forms, technologies and digital tools.
The exhibition will remain open in the Gallery of the Faculty of Fine Arts until 6 July.
