100 million dinars for fitting out 100 computer classrooms

Owing to citizen’s votes, computer cabinets in an additional 20 primary schools will be fitted out with state-of-the-art computer equipment. In cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, through the project entitled We Create Knowledge, Telekom Srbija has supported the development of computer literacy of the youngest generations for five years now. So far, it has invested 100 million dinars in the fitting out of 100 computer classrooms in 100 primary schools in all parts of this country.

Every year, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development lists 40 primary schools which lack computer equipment and take part in the vote on the mts Tvoj svet official Facebook page. The decision on which schools will receive Telekom Srbija's valuable donation is reached by citizens. Schools are divided into four geographic areas to ensure that pupils in all parts of the country have equal access to state-of-the-art computer equipment. Following the vote, twenty schools are elected in each cycle, five in each area, which will receive the new computer equipment. The list of schools awarded in this year's cycle of the We Create Knowledge cycle may be found at the following link.

With its strategic commitment to direct its support towards the promotion of the conditions for the acquisition of knowledge and development of young talents, Telekom Srbija launched the project We Create Knowledge in 2017 when computer science was introduced as a mandatory subject in primary schools, with the aim of backing the inclusion of primary school pupils in the world of digital technologies, to ensure that they acquire relevant expertise and skills with the support of their teachers.

The We Create Knowledge project is part of the umbrella programme of Telekom Srbija We Catalyse the Catalysts which empowers institutions and individuals to be the catalysts of positive changes and encourage other community members to embark on such enterprises. The project keeps abreast of the contemporary education trends and the need for promoting digital literacy from the very outset of schooling, which is also testified to by the commitment of the competent institutions to introduce a new subject entitled Digital World in the primary school curriculum for first-grade pupils last year.
