An award-granting ceremony for the biggest sponsors and a permanent exhibition of representative handicrafts held at the Palace of Serbia marked the fifth anniversary of the initiative entitled “1000 Women” during which over 22,000 working hours were secured for hundreds of women living in villages. The event was organized by the Ethno Network under the auspices of the Coordinating Body for Gender Equality in cooperation with NALED, the UN Women agency and the Canadian Embassy.

One of the winners of this extraordinary recognition is also Telekom Srbija. On behalf of the company, the recognition was received by Jelena Đondović, the corporate philanthropy manager within the Public Relations Department.

The initiative was launched with the mission to see women living in villages as an economic potential that can quickly advance with the right support and the idea that with expert and marketing support and access to the market they could find themselves employment and a source of income by the production of artisanal handicrafts. During a five-year period, craft workshops have been held in 6 cities that especially value women and cultural heritage – Sombor, Pirot, Inđija, Loznica, Novi Pazar and Stara Pazova, while the handicrafts of our women were also displayed at the Dubai Expo 2020.
